Empowering Indie Developers for a Cause

When the IGDA Foundation approached us to create a landing page for their inaugural "Download for Charity" (DLC) event, we saw an opportunity to blend compelling design with strategic functionality. The goal was to craft a page that not only informed but also inspired indie developers to participate in a meaningful cause.

Understanding the Mission

The DLC event, scheduled for May 25–30, 2025, invites game developers to contribute a portion of their game sales on Steam to support diversity and inclusion initiatives in the gaming industry. igdafoundation.org+2igdafoundation.org+2igdafoundation.org+2

Design and Functionality

To effectively communicate the event's purpose and encourage participation, we focused on:

  • Clear Messaging: Articulating the benefits of participation, such as gaining visibility through premium Steam promotion and supporting a more inclusive industry.igdafoundation.org

  • User-Friendly Layout: Organizing information into digestible sections, including event dates, participation steps, and FAQs.

  • Call-to-Action Elements: Incorporating prominent sign-up prompts and contact information to facilitate engagement.

Engaging the Developer Community

Understanding the indie developer audience, we ensured the page resonated with their values and aspirations. By highlighting the flexibility in donation options and the potential for increased visibility, we aimed to make participation accessible and appealing.

Outcome

The resulting landing page serves as a central hub for the DLC event, effectively communicating its mission and facilitating developer involvement. It's a testament to how thoughtful design can drive engagement and support meaningful initiatives in the gaming community.
